Also on replacement of the tranny filters, to begin with I'm refering to the VE auto tranny RE4FO4V not too sure about the VG tranny but I assume it's similar. From my experience, the VE tranny has two filters. One larger filter bolted on the outside of the VB and the other smaller one located within the valve body. Both filters are washable since they are made out of metal, I think stainless steel. So replacement of these filters don't requirer a complete overhaul of the tranny, just a removal of the valve body. In order to replace the smaller filter within the VB, the VB has to be disassemble. The outter filter could probably be replace without disassembling the VB. Again this is on the VE auto tranny. So ask another question, "Does this price includes removal of the VB in-order to change the filter"
These guys at PepBoys type in make/model/year and what service you're looking for, water pump, fan belts, tranny service, etc. Unfortunately the service writer may not know that the Max tranny filter in not serviceable like some others, he's just repeating what he see on the screen. Who ever wrote the program that Pepboys is using for their service rates has a few items incorrect. The Max isn't the only car with incorrect info, trust me I've been behind that screen before. Not really the service writer fault, he's just pressing buttons. It's kinda like the guy at the McDonalds counter, he use to pressing the buttuns that says #1 value meal, 9pc nuggets, etc. but the day you ask for no onions on that value meal he's lost :) he's just so conditioned.
